This book won the Anisfield-Wolf Award in Race Relations. Images from the LIVING MAYA toured the United States with textiles from the weavers’ coop in an exhibition entitled, LIVING MAYA:
The Art of Ancient Dreams
. It was created by a grant from PaineWebber and was sponsored by the Americas Society. Curated by Walter F. Morris, Jr.


The Maya Textile Tradition

Available at amazon.com. Features the weavers’ art. Textiles are seen in real life situations. It includes landscapes and ruins, daily life, the markets, fashion and change, and ceremonies and rituals. Shot primarily in Guatemala, it includes images from Chiapas, Honduras and Belize. Partial sponsorship for this work came from Kodak, and the departments of tourism of Guatemala, and Belize. An exhibition was created for the Americas Society (New York, June, 1997) and the Lowe Museum
(Miami, November, 1997)
